Somalia Turns 65 — But the World Doesn’t Pause

Happy 65th Anniversary Somalia

Somalis around the world celebrated the 65th anniversary of the country. A military parade was held in Somalia which included the first aerial display by the Somali Air Force in decades. It also featured the Somali Navy. This is symbolic and underscores Somalia's increasing security capacity.

Somali embassies around the world also held parallel events and community activities to celebrate as well.


A Helicopter Crash in Somalia

Reports came out on Wednesday that a helicopter used by the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSM) crashed at Aden Adde International Airport. Three of the eight occupants survived, according to a spokesperson.


These Companies are Helping Israel Commit Genocide

A recent report by the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories highlights the growing role of global corporations in enabling Israel’s apartheid—and now, genocide.

The list includes major tech giants like Alphabet (Google’s parent company), Microsoft, IBM, and Amazon, among more than 48 companies. Their involvement ranges from providing the infrastructure for AI and surveillance tools deployed against Palestinians to supplying bulldozers used to demolish Palestinian homes.

Chances are, you and I both use products made by these companies every day. It's crucial to stay informed about the role our everyday tools play in systemic violence—and to move away from them when we can.
